I’m Kevin Miller, founder of M&J Contracting. I built this company in Minnesota on decades of real-world experience and a commitment to doing the work right, every time.

M&J Contracting reflects the way I’ve worked my entire career: a practical, field-driven approach to excavation, grading, and SWPPP compliance. We take on projects that require precision, coordination, and trust, and we take responsibility for the outcome.

Built From the Ground Up

I began my career in the construction industry in 1988, starting as a laborer and working my way up to Senior Estimator and Project Manager. Over nearly three decades, I worked alongside leading general contractors, residential developers, and civil engineers, contributing to projects that helped shape the Twin Cities metro area.

That progression matters to me. It means I understand construction from every angle. What it takes to execute work in the field, build accurate estimates, manage schedules under pressure, and stay accountable to clients.

Why I Started M&J Contracting

After 29 years in the excavating field, I wanted to build something different. I didn’t want to chase volume or cut corners. I wanted a company that combined hands-on expertise with honest communication and consistent execution.

I founded M&J Contracting as a family-owned business with my wife, Teri, with a clear purpose:

• Reduce risk for our clients

• Build long-term relationships, not one-off jobs

In 2026, our daughter, Morgan Miller, joined the company with her education/degree as a land survey & civil engineer technician, strengthening our family’s commitment to quality, continuity, and service.
